Natalie and Trevor | Washington D.C. Wedding

In Weddings by Sheldon

I shot my first destination wedding and it was an incredible experience. Not only was I doing what I love but I was able to spend some time away from home [VACATION] and see some old friends in America along with spending time with my Wife and kids.

It’s such a different perspective shooting away from home.  Packing all my gear, going thru the airport terminals, plane rides, driving an unfamiliar car (rental), trusting my rental car GPS system for each and every turn, not knowing where to stop on a busy wedding day for a refreshing Red Bull and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup…Crazy but I loved every minute of it.

So I did a thorough location scout of the National Harbor grounds and mapped out a couple of routes to and from the church.  I felt that I was ready for the wedding day.  The rains threatened to try and ruin the day (like during our Engagement shoot in Toronto) but held off.  The weather was perfect and the wedding was great.  I got to photograph members of the US Military.  The Groom, Trevor, and some of his Groomsmen are decorated Marines. Impressive.

Along with the business of shooting the wedding of course the Photosapien went to visit the Obama’s and take in the historic grounds that I haven’t visited in over 20 years. I had my first Chic-fil-A burger and didn’t shop ONCE on a visit to America for the first time.  Didn’t bother me that I didn’t go shopping, it was just great showing my young daughters the most powerful business office building in the world.

I thank God for the opportunity to combine my love for photography and living life.
